This is a directory for abortion resources. North Carolina is one of the last remaining states in the South with a semblance of abortion access. Here are some resources that may be helpful in getting your abortion.

Abortion access varies wildly from state-to-state. Since the Dobbs decision, abortion access has been banned throughout the South and Midwest. Guttmacher’s interactive map reflects state policies related to abortion that are in effect. The map does not include proposed bills, bills that have been signed by a governor but have not taken effect yet or laws that are on hold because of legal challenges.

Digital Defense Fund was established in 2017 in response to the increased need for security and technology resources in the abortion rights movement after the 2016 election. In 2023, DDF expanded its mission to provide support to all movements working alongside one another for autonomy and liberation.

National Abortion Federation

The National Abortion Federation is a professional association of abortion providers that runs a confidential hotline to provide accurate information, confidential consultation, and information on providers of quality abortion care. NAF also provides case management services and limited financial assistance to help afford the cost of care and travel-related expenses.

Abortion Finder

AbortionFinder is an easy-to-use search tool built on a database of over 750 verified abortion providers across the country. You can enter your age, the first day of your last period, and your location, and Abortion Finder will give you a list of abortion providers who can help.

Finding and taking abortion pills to end a pregnancy without the help of a doctor or nurse is called a “self-managed abortion”.

Financial Support

Carolina Abortion Fund operates a confidential, toll free helpline that provides financial, practical, and emotional support to callers in North and South Carolina trying to access abortion care.

The National Network of Abortion Funds is a database of over 100 independent abortion funds across the US.

The National Abortion Federation runs a hotline and offers limited financial assistance.

Emotional Support

The Miscarriage & Abortion Hotline is established and operated by medical professionals. The hotline provides private, free, accurate, and caring support and information for people who are going through an abortion or miscarriage.

The All Options Talkline offers peer-support for open-hearted support regarding abortion, adoption, infertility, parenting, and pregnancy loss.

The Faith Aloud clergy counseling line offers spiritual and religious support through abortion or pregnancy experiences.

Exhale Pro-Voice is a nonjudgmental, peer-support counseling helpline that focuses on after-abortion emotional support.

Abortions Welcome is a resource to accompany people on their abortion journey, no matter where they are in the process.

Legal Support
